In a recent Business Week article, the Ross BBA program improved its ranking to fourth best among BBA programs. However, Ross was ranked by its own students as only the 18th best program, far behind the three other schools ahead of Ross in the rankings. Why the large disparity? Well, probably because of a lack of a BBA community, however, the BBASGA would like to help you change that.
Purpose of BBASGA:
The BBASGA is the BBAs student government and we are here to be the voice of the BBAs and help build the BBA community. We plan events like the BBA Games and the Senior Formal, as well as Junior Bowling, the Sophomore Ice Cream Social and Alumni Recruiting Events.
This year, with the opportunities that the new Ross Building can provide us, we would like to make it our goal to improve the student experience and create a tighter BBA Community, which we plan to do through events like these:
BBA vs. Engineering Olympics- The BBA program was recently challenged by the Engineering School to an Olympic tournament and with your help we would like to show them that you can be both smart AND athletic.
End of the year party- We are currently in the process of planning a last day of school party for the sophomores and juniors, set for April 27th, when Accounting and OMS exams will be done
BBA Mentorship Program- In this Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will be grouped together in an effort to develop cross year networking and provide guidance. This year we at the BBASGA want to make sure that we keep the community updated on our current doings, however, we also want you to keep us updated about how you feel about Ross so please reach out to us at bbasgaboard@umich.edu or check out our website at https://ross-bbasga.ecampusgroups.com/web_officers.aspx.
Also, there are great ways for you to get involved. If you have any ideas that you believe can help improve the BBA community, please feel free to contact our Community Citizenship Chair, Daniel Bilen, at dabilen@umich.edu. His job is to hear your great ideas and let you know how you can bring them to fruition. Currently in the pipeline he is trying to organize the following teams:
- Green Team: Help green the school in new ways by coming up with innovative ideas and pitching them to administration
- Theme Team: We like the idea that University has employed of having a theme so much that we thought we could bring it to Ross. The idea is to have a group of students collectively decide on an annual theme and then find ways to market that theme throughout the school.
- Annual Charity Formal: Devote a team of motivated students to plan and put on an annual charity fundraising event to raise money for a charity selected by the team. This would hopefully become a new tradition that both students and faculty could attend.
We highly encourage you to apply for the Sophomore and Junior Section Leaders, who will become the voices of their sections and classes. The election will be held at the beginning of next semester.
Thank you very much and we look forward to working with you this year!
Your BBASGA.
