Eddie Hall III
BBA 2009

As Vice President of BBA Operations, I would dedicate my time and energy into enhancing the Ross experience for every BBA. During my first few years here at the University, I will admit I was not the most involved person. Like the rest of you, college was an environment that I had to adjust to. It took time to balance my personal and school lives. Three years later, I have come to see the importance of being involved on campus. College is a full circle experience and everyone should do their part to make their college community the best it can be.

In the last year I have worked to become actively involved on campus. I worked with my peers to found the Go Blue Optimist club of University of Michigan serving as charter Vice President. The Optimist Club is a community service organization dedicated to "bringing out the best in kids". I also joined the Michigan Ross School of Business Enriching Academics in Collaboration with High Schools (MREACH) program. In MREACH, I work with 10th students from both urban and rural area high schools teaching them business concepts and getting them excited about college. It has been an enriching experience to help others especially by way of teaching them some of the business concepts we struggled with just a few years ago. It is these experiences that have led me to want to run for a position within the SGA and work to help serve my academic community. I have both the experience and the dedication necessary to serve as your Vice President of Operations.

As VP of Operations I would be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the BBA government and helping to organize and execute large scale events. One of my most important responsibilities would be the logistical planning for BBA Games. As you know, BBA games is a unique recruiting kickoff event that gives students the chance to begin their networking in an informal manner; BBA games is also a fun team building experience for students. As one of the largest student run events on campus it takes a committed student to smoothly execute the logistics. For the past few summers I have interned with a company working as a business development associate planning large-scale promotional events. It is this first hand experience that makes me a prime candidate for the job. If elected to the VP of Operations position, I promise to faithfully fulfill all my responsibilities and go above and beyond what is required to promote the excellence that is synonymous with the Ross School of Business.

Alumni Relations Committee Chair
• Coordinates with administrative offices and alumni to plan the BBA/SGA Alumni Relations Networking Event.
• Works with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations on reunions and other alumni events as needed.

John Kavchak
BBA 2010
kavchak@umich.edu

I am John Kavchak, a sophomore in the BBA program. I am applying for the position of Alumni Relations Chair and ask you to consider me to represent the BBA community in this position.

During my time here at Michigan, I noticed there is a disconnection between the alumni and the students. By having this position, I would like to create some kind of common ground where we can have the alumni community meet students informally. Having this kind of implementation to the Ross School of Business, the school and the alumni community can have a stronger bond.

Some ideas that would be excellent are: lunches with alumni, continuation of Sophomore Alumni Networking Events, and visits to alumni concentrated hubs, such as NY or the West Coast.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to representing the BBA community as Chairman of the Alumni Relations.

Career Development Committee Chair
•Leads a committee (which includes the BBA Executive Board, and the BBA President) to plan, acquire sponsorships for, and execute the
Annual BBA Games.
• Serves as the lead BBA representative for the Office of Career Development (OCD) and works closely with OCD to coordinate a range of career development activities including workshops and building resume books.

Josh Cipkala-Gaffin
BBA 2009
jcip@umich.edu

As the career development committee chair, I plan on improving the BBA Games by increasing company involvement and modifying the ways in which BBAs interact with companies at this event. I also hope to improve the event by including more marketing and consulting companies to better match the diverse range of interests in the BBA class. By improving this event I think that BBAs will be better able to focus on the recruiting process that, at the beginning of the semester, seems to be out in the distance. I feel that I would be qualified to successfully plan the BBA games because as a member of Michigan Interactive Investments I have spent time working with companies to sponsor club events such as MII's fall internship panel and the MII Stock Pitch Competition. Furthermore, I want to improve the communication between OCD and BBAs so that workshops occur earlier in the recruiting season that address specific concerns or questions that BBAs have in addition to traditional resume and interviewing workshops. I think that many BBAs get a late start in the recruiting process which ultimately leads to procrastination and deadlines piling up all at once. By getting educating BBAs about the career search process earlier, they will be able to save themselves a great deal of pain and stress in the long run.

Evan Lieberman
BBA 2009
elieber@umich.edu

Hello, my name is Evan Lieberman & I am running to become the Career Development Chairman for BBA Student Government. I am a BBA Junior emphasizing in Accounting and Finance.

As a brief background about my leadership experiences: As a freshman, I was elected Vice President for Finance of the Residence Halls Association. This position allowed me to learn and implement budgeting and project management for programming that effects thousands of university students. Some of my accomplishments include negotiating an increase in RHA funding from $100,000 to $245,000, working with University Housing Administration to design the suite style rooms in North Quad, as well as overhauling RHA's accounting processes. As a result of maintaining these relationships, I was able to utilize Housings relationships with vendors to leverage sponsorship for a statewide conference for universities from across the state this past weekend.

As Career Development Chairman, I will continue to build on BBA's relationship with the Office of Career Development. My objective is to utilize this relationship to put OCD more in touch with the needs of the BBA student body. I will also increase the number of participating companies in the BBA games (BBA's main source of funding for the year) and work to insure that the BBA games run smoother and are planned professionally. The BBA games must be more widely publicized to help students to utilize this networking event to jump-start the recruiting process at Ross. Additionally, I will work towards increasing the exposure of BBASG so that the Ross student body understands its function and understands the resources that it can provide.

This will require me to utilize the skills and experiences my position in RHA has afforded me. It is also with the understanding that my position on the Executive Board requires me to work in conjunction with the BBA president on the planning of the BBA Games. Throughout my experience at UofM, I have gotten to know the BBA president well and fully support the objectives set forth for BBASG by him.

Thank you for your support and I am looking forward to representing you during the 2008-2009 school year.

Community Citizenship Committee Chair
• Collaborates with the Community Values Committee on educational projects
• Recruits and maintains a roster of volunteers to serve on the preliminary investigation teams for CVC cases
• Coordinates community service and corporate social responsibility programming across the school and takes the lead on school wide initiatives.

Jay Friedman
BBA 2010
jayfried@umich.edu

Hello Everyone. My name is Jay Friedman, and I am a BBA sophomore running for the position of Community Citizenship Committee Chair on the BBA SGA board. As the CCC chair, I promise to represent all students interests when a violation of the Ross Community Values occurs. I will preserve all students rights, and ensure sanctions are not only deserved but benefit the overall student environment. All accusations deserve a thorough evaluation, and I will make sure that you receive one should you find yourself in that situation.

Aside from the Community Values Committee investigation team, I hope to be able to pursue varying community initiatives. Having previously worked on and led several charitable projects, I am excited about the opportunity of having the resources of Ross available to make a significant difference. Working with the community not only benefits others, but teaches skills which classrooms cannot capture. The learning which takes place outside the classroom, through interaction and experience, can be equally beneficial as what we learn through curriculum. The more we can interact with and experience things unfamiliar to us, the more we can grow and further our education.

After two years of leadership experience as an officer of M-Tek, the undergraduate business technology club, I am now excited about the opportunity to work for the entire student body. Being in the Ross School of Business has been a tremendous experience, and my only goal is to make the student environment that much better. Please contact me with any questions or suggestions.

By serving as the Community Citizenship Chair and working closely with the Community Values Committee next year, I wish to: Uphold and encourage academic integrity, organize program to promote diversity and value ideas of social justice, and heighten awareness on corporate social responsibility.

After talking to the current chair, Rachel Lewis, I realize how flexible this position is and I believe that I can demonstrate the following qualities in fulfilling my aspirations. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic person over my goals and have always strived to achieve my targets. I also have a deep interest in social justice and equality. During my two years in UM, I have been participating in different service organizations. This spring break I went to a shelter in Minneapolis with the Alternative Spring Break to learn more about social justice. On the other hand, I also possess strong communication skills. Being on the board of the Business Organization for Strategic Skills, I have learned to be a strong team player and have acquired ample experience with organizing events on campus.

In the coming year, I hope to transfer my experiences and passion to educate students about different social issues by coordinating community service projects with other committees or student groups. I also wish to uphold the Academic Honor Code and the Code of Student Conduct by maintaining the current Community Values Committee as a preliminary investigation team.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to serving all the BBAs in the coming school year.

Rachel Basaldua
BBA 2010

I am running for the Leadership Development Committee chair because I want the opportunity to help the Ross student body develop strong leaders. Those of you who have been through the recruiting process know leadership is very important, but having been a leader is not good enough, you must be a successful one. In many interviews, I have been asked to discuss a time when I was a successful leader and accomplished a goal. By being the Leadership Development Committee chair, it would be my goal to make sure every BBA would have an experience to draw from, if asked to speak about a time when they were a successful leader. In this position I hope to organize leadership workshops, which will ultimately help you secure employment with your company of choice.

I feel I would be good in this position because I am a hardworking, dedicated individual who is passionate about every endeavor I take on. I have experience working as a leader and on a team. Last summer I had an internship, which required I take on great responsibility and work with many different personalities. I was successful in this position and was able to reach my project goals, just like I feel I would be successful in this position.

Please vote for me, I want to help you succeed.

Social Committee Chair

meaningful student life experience.

Jacquitta Watson
BBA 2010
jadawa@umich.edu

My plaform is short and sweet, just like me. My name is Jacquitta Watson, but most know me as Ke-Ke. I am a BBA sophomore, and I am running for Social Chair within SGA. To me, the position of Social Chair means being outgoing, energetic, and passionate about your community to create an enjoyable atmosphere for all. With a name like Ke-Ke, how can I not be energetic and outgoing? I know how to buckle down and get the job done; however, my infectious laugh will always keep everyone entertained.

I love the University of Michigan and the Ross School of Business, and I want to share my love with others. To do so, I will strive to develop numerous programs that create a loving and fun community within Ross. I also know that some people have a difficult time adjusting to Ross because they might not know any upperclassmen who can "show them the ropes." I will work hard to design different activities and other events that focus on narrowing the gap between under and upperclassmen so that reliable bonds are formed with those we see everyday.

As the current President of the Bursley Hall Multicultural Council, I have experience creating various programs and activities, such as Bursley's 37th Annual Campus Wide Talent Show and a cultural Halloween party for the residents' children in the Northwood neighborhood. Therefore, I understand the hard work and commitment it takes to provide an efficient program, and I am capable to do the same at Ross. I am also a very passionate and dedicated person, and I bring those qualities to anything I do. If elected, I know I will bring my experience and enthusiasm to be the best Social Chair for the Ross Community. Thank you, and remember to vote for
Jacquitta (like the bananas) for Social Chair!

Emily Weslosky
BBA 2009

I'm excited about the opportunity to take a more active role in the Ross community by serving as Social Chair. I believe my past experience, social capital, and enthusiasm will allow me to succeed in this position. As a four-year Class President in high school I learned how to effectively delegate and receive responsibility. Furthermore, as Prom Coordinator, I was able to unleash my creative ability to plan a memorable event. Currently as Section 2 President at Ross, I have effectively collaborated across sections to brainstorm possible Business School events.

In my two years at Ross, I have established close relationships among my peers, giving me the social capital needed to create enthusiasm about events. As most of you know, I am always positive, upbeat and maybe sometimes a little crazy. There is no doubt I will work hard to make Ross a closer and more exciting community. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to represent the Ross student body as Social Chair.
