Giants Shock the Patriots!

Perhaps one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl History, this year's face-off between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants resulted in an upset victory. Led by quarterback Eli Manning and defensive end Michael Strahan, the New York Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14 in a shocking comeback win. Prior to Super Bowl XLII, the Patriots were the only team to go 18-0 this season. Heavily favored throughout the playoffs, the Patriots winning streak was snapped in the most important game of the year.
The underdog Giants won the game with their tenacious defense that stepped up to the challenge. Against one of the top quarterbacks of the game and the NFL's most efficient offensive powerhouse, the Giants defense put pressure on Brady and the Patriots offensive line better than any other team has done this season. The Strahan led defensive line knocked Brady down over a dozen times and sacked him five times. Despite putting up a good fight, Brady and wide receiver Randy Moss seemed to be out of their usual rhythm. For most of the first half, Moss was shut out with the Patriots going three-and-out on most of their possessions.
Luckily for Plaxico Burgess, who boldly predicted a 23-17 victory, the Giants overcame the Patriots late in the fourth quarter with a clutch touchdown pass from Manning, the Super Bowl MVP, to Burgess with only 35 seconds left on the clock. On the other hand, the unfortunate Patriots and their superstar quarterback ended their season in disappointment. After a season of controversy, blowout games, and comeback wins, the Patriots were unable to capture the Lombardi Trophy. I can't speak for the rest of the team, but at least Tom Brady will be going home with superstar model Gisele Bundchen.
