Those in the Ross community that choose to attend are sure to experience an event unlike any other. The overall objective of the Alfred L. Edwards conference is to provide insight into the topics and challenges that currently face African Americans within our community, and this year's theme is sure to provide participants with food for thought in the days, weeks, and months that follow the Conference.
As in years past, the BBSA is proud to host some of the foremost African American leaders of both business and social enterprise as keynote speakers and panelists for the conference. The conference will feature keynote addresses by Ramsey Jay, Jr., an Associate Analyst at Ares Management; Carla Harris, Managing Director - Global Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley; and Emmy Award winning broadcaster Ed Gordon. Each keynote will provide inspirational comments on how to continue advancing diversity in the business world and will inspire attendees with an uplifting and positive message.
The Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference will also feature workshops with topics ranging from fiscal responsibility to social responsibility. Workshops will include:
- "Zero Debt for College Grads" featuring Lynette Khalfani-Cox, the well known "money coach," who will provide tips and insights on fiscal responsibility
- "Rethinking who you Are: Brand Yu" featuring Hajj Flemings, who will motivate attendees to reach their hidden potential
- "Creating Expression and Social Responsibility" featuring Toni Blackman, who will use her unique mix of hip-hop, art and poetry to teach social responsibility
- "Perspectives on Diversity in Corporate America" featuring panelists from conference sponsors who will talk about the value of diversity in modern business.
In addition to the workshops and keynote speakers, the Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference will offer participants the opportunity to network with top firms, students from other top MBA schools, as well as alumni from Ross. The conference will also feature the "Triple Fat Goose" party, sponsored by Grey Goose and featuring the world famous DJ Biz Markie, who will be spinning records all night long at Live at PJ's.
Clearly, this is an event too fulfilling to pass up. Nick Gantt, president of the BBSA at Notre Dame's business school, attended last year's conference and said, "Attending Michigan's conference was an eye opening experience and is the benchmark for conferences related to promoting diversity and its importance in the corporate environment. The event was not only a great networking experience but was also very informative as well as fun. I thought the weekend was such a positive experience that I used it as a blueprint to create a similar event at my university."
The Ross Black Business Students Association is proud to host and looks forward to showing off the hard work of their members to the entire Ross Community. Make sure you don't miss out and register today for the Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference today!
