While many University of Michigan students were traveling all over the world to enjoy a much deserved spring break, twelve Ross students decided to utilize their time in a different way by helping rebuild New Orleans. In August 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast region of the United States, resulting in $75 to $100 billion of property damage and destroying over 215,000 homes.
The Frankel Commercialization Fund, a new student-run venture capital fund at the Ross School of Business, has selected its first two MBA student teams and is now looking to invest in early-stage companies. "The Frankel Fund will bring together business students interested in new company creation and product commercialization with other talented University of Michigan students, faculty, and researchers who have great ideas but often lack the experience or knowledge required to get their ideas to the marketplace," said Thomas S.
The Europa Forum Conference Series, a multidisciplinary student-led conference series examining issues of US-European interest, hosted the Second Europa Forum at the Michigan Union last week. The theme of this year's conference, "Leadership Styles in Europe and the US," addressed the challenges of intercultural leadership by contrasting leadership styles across the two continents.
